things that'll kill other people, me, or idiots

Recently I learned that I should probably see Gasland, which describes how people's wells get polluted when you blast a lot of water into the ground in an effort to break up the shale and free natural gas. I saw a clip that showed a man lighting his tap water on fire.

In similar news, the oil dispersant BP is using made the news for giving people TILT, which is just another name for environmental injury/illness or MCS.

Locally, there's a proscribed burn going on, and the best updates are on the national park website. They do a much better job on updates than the national forest.

And in other local news, by watching the video about the guy who died after stealing beer from a convenience store, I learned that 'beer runs' occur three of four times a day in Tucson. I guess I knew convenience stores were prone to getting knocked over, but I had no idea shoplifting multiple cases of beer was so common.
